Tucson, AZ – Today marks what would be the 91st birthday of legendary Peanuts cartoonist Charles “Sparky” Schulz! I had the pleasure of working with him 25 years ago on a live-action / animation film entitled “The Girl in the Red Truck.” The girl in the title was played by Charles’s daughter Jill. It was a family affair indeed, as his son Monte co-wrote the screenplay. We’re standing in front of a prop cactus, created to serve as the home of the animated character “Spike,” Snoopy’s Arizona-based brother. Meeting Charles Schulz was one of the highlights of my career. (As for the glasses? Hey, it was the ’80s…)
