Golden Boy on a New Mission

Michael Phelps is known for his amazing 23 gold medals at the Summer Olympics. The flying fish’s new mission is pool safety. With a young one of his own, safety for kids around the pool has become his new passion. In 2009, along with the help of KidsHealth.org and Michael Phelps Swimming, a water-safety, wellness, and goal-setting program for Boys & Girls Clubs of America was established.
We photographed and shared a recent evening with Mr. Phelps at the Four Seasons Scottsdale. Michael talked about his new passion for water safety, a grueling training regime and interesting times with Ryan Lochte.
