Scottsdale, Arizona – Condoleezza Rice is quite the player. She has served as National Security Advisor to President George W. Bush during his first term and Secretary of State in his second term logging more miles than any other Secretary of State, ever! In September 2010, she became a faculty member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a director of its Global Center for Business and the Economy.
Rice has also played piano in public since she was a young girl. While Secretary of State she played regularly with a chamber music group in Washington including a performance for Queen Elizabeth II and performed in public with cellist Yo-Yo Ma and singer Aretha Franklin. Her name, Condoleezza was given to her by her dad and derives from the music related term “con dolcezza” which in Italian means, “with sweetness”.
In October 2013, Rice was selected to be one of the 13 inaugural members of the College Football Playoff Postseason, Selection Committee. She revealed that she watches 14 or 15 games every week live on TV on Saturdays and recorded games on Sundays.
We were fortunate to photograph 70 lucky people with Condi this past Wednesday at the Phoenician. When we thanked her for her time she responded “we were the best, professional and excellent with the attendees”. Welcome to the team!
