YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE!

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE!

Tucson, AZ – Today marks what would be the 91st birthday of legendary Peanuts cartoonist Charles “Sparky” Schulz! I had the pleasure of working with him 25 years ago on a live-action / animation film entitled “The Girl in the Red Truck.” The girl in the title was played by Charles’s daughter Jill. It was a family affair indeed, as his son Monte co-wrote the screenplay. We’re standing in front of a prop cactus, created to serve as the home of the animated character “Spike,” Snoopy’s Arizona-based brother. Meeting Charles Schulz was one of the highlights of my career. (As for the glasses? Hey, it was the ’80s…)

SMILE TRAIN GETS THEIR “HERO” on at TEMPE IRONMAN

SMILE TRAIN GETS THEIR “HERO” on at TEMPE IRONMAN

Tempe, AZ – You may know Iron Man as a superhero, but these folks are heroes in their own right by finishing in the top seven in the recent Ironman Arizona race. Pictured here are Ritch Viola and winners of Team Empower from Smile Train, a non-profit group dedicated to fixing cleft lips and other facial deformities in children. Each Smile Team member was encouraged to raise $5,000, but many went further than that. One team member raised over $40,000. As you can see, a great time was had by all and we were thrilled to be able to “finish” in our own way with these remarkable athletes!

“SEEMS TO ME” IT’S JOE’S BIRTHDAY

“SEEMS TO ME” IT’S JOE’S BIRTHDAY

Dallas Texas – Life’s been good for Joe Walsh. He’s 66 years old today, one of the most versatile lead performers and sidemen around (sometimes during the same performance), an experienced actor and related by marriage to Ringo Starr (they’re married to sisters). While most people know him for such songs as “In the City” and “Rocky Mountain Way,” as well as his on-again-off-again tenure with the Eagles, Joe’s musical history goes back to the early 70s in Ohio with the James Gang and songs like “Funk 49 and “Walk Away.”

Without hesitation, Peter said yes, grabbed his camera and immediately headed to the Biltmore – after getting dressed, of course!
